ITT Dublin Futsal

IT Tallaght Dublin were hit by futsal fever this week when they hosted a successful one-day tournament at the National Basketball Arena.

After two exciting groups produced plenty of thrills, the final was a real cracker as Trev's Army ran out 6-5 winners over Galacticos.

Galacticos won Group A with three straight victories, conceding just one goal en route to the final. Their side was made up of Adam Behan (GK), Michael Isichei, Colm Corcoran, Robert McDonagh, John Mullane, Neil Mulvey, Ian Ellis and Craig Donoghue.

Trev's Army came out of a tense Group B, which featured three teams. All three sides won one game but Trev's Army clinched top spot on goal difference after Ian Cronin secured a 1-0 win for Dynamo Chicken Kiev with ten seconds left of their clash with All-Stars, who had been denied by a string of saves from impressive goalkeeper Ian Donnelly.

The final saw Isichei put Galacticos 1-0 up but a double from Stevie Nicholl put Trev's Army in control. Ellis responded and Isichei added another to restore Galacticos lead but a Nicholl free-kick whizzed home just before the break to make it 3-3.

Trev's Army started the second half on fire and a double from Sean Ward and another Nicholl finish made it 6-3 in their favour. Remarkably Isichei and Colm Corcoran responded for Galacticos but they just couldn't carve out an equaliser.

The winning squad was: Stephen Larkin (GK), Trevor Boyle, Declan Hoare, Ciaran O'Carroll, Sean Ward, John Ward, Stevie Nicholl, James Fox, David Feighery.
